One Ugly Sucker Fishing Contest 2024!

Help us rid Wellington Lake of Ugly Suckers while enjoying a day fishing!

We are offering you the opportunity to join us in a contest to catch the biggest, smallest and most suckers of the day! This is a great chance to get out before winter and fish with friends for a day of fishing, fun and prizes!!

Build a Team!

Teams of up to 4 participants, minimum 2 participants per team.

$20/person. All ages welcome!

Pre-Registration:

Guests are encouraged to pre-register their team online.

REGISTRATION AND FEES: Anglers are highly encouraged to preregister online to ensure they will have a spot in the tournament on the day of the event. Pre-registration is $20/Angler.

Please make sure all paperwork is signed before your arrival to ensure the check-in process goes without delay’s. Note: The $20/Angler registration fee is non-refundable at the time of purchase.

Registration is available online up to 24hrs prior to the day of the tournament. When registering a team, you will be required to pay two pre-registration fees, as teams are a minimum of two anglers. All Anglers must be fully registered for the tournament by 10am on November 23rd, 2024. Registration fees include Day Use entry fee into Castle Mountain Recreation Area. Guests may join to spectate Anglers but must pay Day Use fees. Any guest not registered in the tournament may NOT fish the date of the tournament. Reservations are encouraged for all Guests/Day Users.

Registration fee will be non-refundable.

You are encouraged to come up with an appropriate….yet fun… team name for your team. Please call in or email your team name or add it to your notes at the time of check out.

Teams without a name will be issued a team name.

Teams of up to four Anglers, minimum two Anglers per team.

Rules for Team Names:

We encourage you to come up with a creative team name for your team. However, team names must be appropriate.

-Team names should not include cuss words.

-Team names should not be offensive to any group(s) of people.

-There is no reservation system for team names, they are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Parameters:

-Participants will be awarded for most suckers caught, largest sucker caught by length, and smallest sucker caught by length.

-This will be an open water tournament; any hand launched boat or watercraft is allowed. No gas-powered motors will be permitted.

-Sucker Fish must be kept on a stringer or in a basket-style live well in the water.

Coolers and Ice Chests will NOT be permitted for storing fish.

Coolers and Ice Chests will be inspected to ensure cooperation with the rules and regulations.

Any trout caught must IMMEDIATELY be returned to the water ALIVE!

       ANYONE CAUGHT KEEPING TROUT WILL SUFFER A MINIMUM $100 FINE AND AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION!

-Check-in begins at 6:30 am.

-End time: Anglers must be off the water by 3:30pm on November 23rd 2024 and checked into the judge’s station for official counting by 4:30pm.

-Live bait will be allowed.

-No artificial/scented bait.

-No treble hooks.

-Steel weights only, NO lead weights.

-Judging: All suckers will be returned to the angler upon finalizing their count/measurements. Any Angler that does not want their suckers may leave them with Wellington Lake staff for appropriate disposal.

-Winners will be announced the day of the tournament by 6:00pm.

-Anglers can win all three (3) categories.

  1. Most suckers caught

  2. Biggest sucker

  3. Smallest sucker

-Ties will be broken by coin toss.

Prizes are based on number of participants!!

Most Suckers Caught-Most Suckers Caught- 20% of admissions money in form of a Visa Gift Card, Wellington Lake Fish Hoodie and Sticker. 

Biggest Sucker Caught- 10% of admissions money in the form of a Visa Gift Card, Ugly Sucker T-shirt and Sticker.  

Smallest Sucker Caught- 5% of admissions money in the form of a Visa Gift Card, Wellington Lake Fish Mug and Sticker.
