Lake Conditions:

The lake is Open year-round. Campers, Day Users, and Anglers are Welcome! All Guests must sign a liability waiver and pick up a parking pass upon arrival on the property.

Attention Anglers!
The lake is ~58% frozen. Due to high winds and warm temps the lake has thawed to 58 perecent. No Measurements have been taken the Ice is unstable at this time. We will post Ice details on our Winter Recreation tab.

Day Use is open from Sunup to Sundown you must register prior to 4:00 pm of your arrival date.

**Day Use will be closed on the following dates. Feburary 15th 2025 for our annual Ice Fishing Tournament (please visit events page for details.)

Attention Campers! All wells are currently shut down. Please bring plenty of water with you. The main portion of the campground is shut down for site restoration and our cross-country ski-track. Camping is still available, but through sites 2-19.

Current Fire Ban Information:

**Campfires ARE allowed. Due to National Weather Service recommendations, high winds and Park County Stage One Fire Ban. Wellington Caretakers can call for a RED FLAG WARNING at any time.

Current Road Conditions:

CO Rd 68/Wellington Lake Rd:

RD 68 has been plowed and is currently snow and ice packed. Recommended 4-Wheel drive only. It is NOT Recommended to take Buffalo Creek Road during winter as it is NOT county maintained.

Road 68 has washboards in some areas. The last 4 miles has potholes and washout in some areas. 10.01.24

Road 68 was graded on the Jefferson County side from Windy Peak School to Wellington Lake on 09.24.24 08.20.24 07.21.24 06.21.24 05.23.24

Road 68 was graded on the Park County side to Windy Peak School on 04/25/2024.

*The most reliable, year-round access to the lake is via County Road 68 from Bailey, CO.

Camping Information:

The Campground is OPEN year-round, and reservations are made online. If you are looking for a same-day camping reservation, please call to book over the phone. Walk-up Camping is available on site on non-peak season days only. Camp sites #22-75 will be closed starting November 2024 until May 2024 for site restoration.

We are SOLD OUT of Ice for the Season. Please bring Ice with you on your adventure.

Campground Reservations:

Campsites may be reserved through the online booking portal as early as 3 months in advance of your check-in date at midnight.

*Guests may book earlier than 3 months via the Advanced Booking process. Please note that if your check in date is within 3 months but your additional dates fall outside of the 3 months, the Advanced Booking fees will apply to all dates outside of the 3-month window.
